The Yale Glee Club is presenting the Cape Town Youth Choir, one of South Africa’s finest choral ensembles.
The Cape Town Youth Choir was founded in 1997 with the name Pro Cantu (meaning “for singing”). When they moved from Durbanville (a suburb of Cape Town) to the city center in 2011 they changed their name to “Cape Town Youth Choir”.
They have toured South Africa, Europe, Asia and the US, have won gold in competitions, and have sung in world famous venues. They love singing simple folk songs as well as challenging modern pieces. Their members are younger than 30 and (usually) older than 16 and come from all walks of life.
