The Yale Glee Club combines forces with Yale Symphony and Yale Camerata to perform one of the most popular works of the 20th century, Carl Orff’s tremendous masterwork, Carmina Burana — an instantly recognizable piece that has found been celebrated not only in concert halls, but movie soundtracks as well. The piece is Orff’s greatest triumph, and has secured itself firmly in the international repertoire since the 1930s. Complementing Orff’s epic ode to fate and passion is Schoenberg’s sublime and beautiful Verklärte Nacht, conducted by YSO assistant conductor and principal trumpet player Elias Brown.
